Federer`s Explanation of Sensational Loss

Five-time champion Roger Federer dropped sensationally to the 1/8-finals of the US Open 2018 after losing to four sets of the 55th Australian ranked John Millman. 37-year-old Federer, placed under No. 2, bowed his head to his opponent with 6:3, 5:7, 6:7 (7), 6:7 (3). Milman is waiting for him a new heavy test in the next phase as he is going to face two-time champion Novak Djokovic (Serbia).

The winner of the record 20 Grand Slam titles Federer complained of the weather after the defeat, saying Arthur Esh Stadium was very hot. The Swiss explained that he had failed to adapt well to the playing conditions by pointing out that the roof of the largest tennis arena in the world also played a role in creating the difficult conditions in question.

I think it was very hot tonight. It was one of those evenings, in which, I suppose, I did not get air. There was no air circulation. I do not know, for some reason, I j ust struggled to play in the conditions tonight. This is one of the first times when this happens to me.

I did not feel comfortable. You sweat more and more in the course of the game and you lose energy. But John managed to do better in these conditions. It may come from one of the wettest places on earth, Brisbane. I knew a heavy game was waiting for me. Maybe when you feel that way, you`re going to miss out on chances, and I`ve had one. That was disappointing. But see, at some point, I guess, I was happy that the game was over. I think there is no air circulation on the court when playing under the roof. I think only this fact makes the US Open a different tournament.

Plus, playing conditions may have been a bit slower this year. When you try to make a final shot, everything seems slower.

Again I say, see, I think the game was heavy. I want to lead with 2:0 sets, maybe the match wo uld have been different. Maybe then I would find a way to win, I had chances to end. It was just hard. I think John played a great game mentioned by buy soccer picks in harsh conditions, he commented after the fight, Federer, who last triumphed in New York 10 years ago.
