The second week of the semifinals of the Champions League is coming with one of the big derbies in this phase of the tournament adviced by volleyball picks - Arsenal vs. Barcelona. Check out our soccer prediction.
Arsenal was threatened with dropping further into the group stage of the tournament adviced by volleyball picks but got away after two victories in the last two rounds. The Gunners got in an argument with Olympiakos for the second position, after the Greek team shocked them with 3:2 in London in the second round. In the last round, Arsene Wenger`s team was flawless, winning with 3:0 in Greece and with victories over Dinamo Zagreb and FC Bayern Munich home find a place among the 16 best this season in Europe.
The draw for the Londoners, however, was a nightmarish - the strongest team in Europe at the time, Barcelona. During the 2010/11 season, the two teams met again in this last phase of the tournament adviced by volleyball picks as Barca triumphed after a defeat with 1:2 in London and the success of the second leg with a 3:1. A year earlier, the Catalans overcame Arsenal again, this time to 1/4-finals after a 2:2 draw at the Emirates and win of 4:1 at Camp Nou.
Arsenal is going to the upcoming match with Barcelona with five consecutive shutouts in all tournaments as the weekend drew with 0:0 with Hull City in the FA Cup. In the Premier League `Gooners` are on the third place with two points less than the leader Leicester, so they fight on three fronts, but Arsene Wenger`s priorities are certainly Champions League and Premiership.
Luis Enrique`s team qualified for the playoffs, after finishing on top of Group A with four wins and two draws, finished with eight points before the second Roma. Barcelona looks unstoppable this season with their star trio in the front position. Neymar, Luis Suarez and the Golden Ball winner Lionel Messi this season are outstanding and the trio did not stop growing. Suarez is the leading scorer of the Catalans with 35 goals in all tournaments and the former Liverpool striker will be motivated to have an impact on his return to England.
This weekend Barcelona made another step towards the title in La Liga, beating Las Palmas with 2:1 as a guest. The competitors of the Blaugranas, Atletico and Real made draws with which they took up the white flag. The advance of Barcelona before the second Atletico is eight points, while `white ballet` falls short of the nine. This is quite a serious head start and the team of Luis Enrique can fully concentrate on the Champions League. We expect the Spanish team to seek victory in the first match against Arsenal.
